Join us at the Library Thursday, February 7th from 6-8 pm for String Art- using wood plaques, nails and embroidery string to create your own one-of-a-kind piece of art. We will provide materials and inspiration silhouettes or bring your own to fit a 4 x 6 space. If you own a hammer, please bring it for we will have a limited amount to share. This event is free and for adults 16 and older. Middle Grade Book Club!

We will meet two Tuesdays in February. Our first meeting will be Tuesday, February 12 from 3:30-4:30 pm and Tuesday, February 19th from 3:30-4:30 pm for children ages 8-12.

Each meeting will consist of book discussion, snacks and activities.

Each child  will receive their own copy of our selected book “ Unusual Chickens for the Exceptional Poultry Farmer” by Kelly Jones.

VALENTINE TREATS CRAFTERNOON FOR KIDS

Thursday, February 14th from 3:30-4:40 pm children ages 9-16 can register to join us as we enjoy an afternoon of treat making and playing Minute It Win It games! We will make two treats, Candy Kabobs and Valentine dipped wafer cookies. While the cookies cool, we will play some fun and fate challenging games!

Seedy Tuesday!

The Santiam Food Alliance presents Seedy Tuesday, February 26th at 6:30 pm.

A presentation on starting cool-season crops from seed, by Lisa Almarode, followed by a seed swap. Bring any extra seed (commercial or gathered) that you have to share, and take samples of others’ seeds. Well-wrapped plants, tubers, and bulbs are welcome, too!

This free event is co-sponsored by the Lebanon Garden Club, OSU Extension Master Gardeners, and the Lebanon Public Library.

Ukulele Workshop with the Ukalaliens

The Library will be hosting a ukulele workshop February 28th from 6-7 pm with the Ukalaliens! You can learn how to play the ukulele in just one hour! If you don’t have a ukulele, that is ok, the Ukalaliens will be bringing 30 ukuleles to loan and welcome participants to bring their own. There will be a Kala ukulele give away after the workshop. This class is designed for beginners, but even seasoned players are welcome to join in the fun!

This workshop is for ages 16 and older. Registration is required for loaner ukuleles, please call the Library at 541-258-4926 to register. You do not need to register if you plan to bring your own ukulele. This event is free and one does not need a library card to attend.

Libby e-book / Audiobook Workshop

Thursday, March 14th from 2-4 pm the Lebanon Public Library will be offering a free workshop to learn how to download and navigate the Overdrive Libby app to access the Library’s e-book and audiobook collection on your smartphone, tablet or computer.

Registration is not required to attend. Please bring your own smartphone, tablet, or laptop. You will also need to bring your valid Lebanon Public Library card and your 4 digit pin for this workshop. If you do not have a library card or your 4 digit pin, please stop by the library information desk and our staff will be happy to assist you.

TAI CHI at the LIBRARY January-March

The Library will be hosting Tai Chi sessions with instructor Jeff Herda, Tuesdays from 5:30 - 7 pm during the months of January, February, and March for ages 18 and older.

The class practice will be traditional Yang style. Classes will consist of stretching, Qigong (energy work) and basic exercises to help relax and breath.

Instructor Jeff Herda has practiced the art of Tai Chi for 30 years during which time he was an instructor for 15 years with LBCC.

Please wear comfortable clothing.

This event is free and registration is not required to attend.

FAMILY GAME NIGHT

Join Friday, November 9th from 6-8 pm for our annual Family Game Night! This year we will have a new LIFE-SIZE game….Clue! Included in our LIFE-SIZE game line-up is giant Kerplunk and Jenga. Participants are encouraged to bring their own board games from home or play the many we will have available throughout the library. The fun continues at 7 pm when we start spinning the Bingo cage! Light refreshments will be served during Bingo.

This free event is for all ages and one does not need a library card to attend.

Little Bookworms Read for the Record!

Jumpstart’s Read for the Record brings together millions of people each year in classrooms, libraries, community centers, and homes across the US. This annual campaign was launched over a decade ago to highlight the importance of building early literacy and language skills for EVERY child, so that all children have the opportunity to enter kindergarten prepared to succeed.

Jumpstart is excited to announce the book selection for our 13th annual Read for the Record on October 25, 2018! This year’s book is Maybe Something Beautiful by F. Isabel Campoy and Theresa Howell and illustrated by Rafael López. We can’t wait to read with you!
