FAMILY GAME NIGHT

Join Friday, November 9th from 6-8 pm for our annual Family Game Night! This year we will have a new LIFE-SIZE game….Clue! Included in our LIFE-SIZE game line-up is giant Kerplunk and Jenga. Participants are encouraged to bring their own board games from home or play the many we will have available throughout the library. The fun continues at 7 pm when we start spinning the Bingo cage! Light refreshments will be served during Bingo.

This free event is for all ages and one does not need a library card to attend.

Little Bookworms Read for the Record!

Jumpstart’s Read for the Record brings together millions of people each year in classrooms, libraries, community centers, and homes across the US. This annual campaign was launched over a decade ago to highlight the importance of building early literacy and language skills for EVERY child, so that all children have the opportunity to enter kindergarten prepared to succeed.

Jumpstart is excited to announce the book selection for our 13th annual Read for the Record on October 25, 2018! This year’s book is Maybe Something Beautiful by F. Isabel Campoy and Theresa Howell and illustrated by Rafael López. We can’t wait to read with you!

The Thursday, October 18th at 6 pm event is part of Oregon Humanities’ statewide Conversation Project.

THE CONVERSATION PROJECT  "BEYOND FAKE NEWS: HOW WE FIND ACCURATE INFROMATION ABOUT THE WORLD," WITH KELLY McElroy.

 Thursday, October 18th at 6 pm —On both national and local levels, Oregonians have seen how the news can both represent and misrepresent the facts at hand. From debate over local opinions on the occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge to the discourse around “alternative facts,” it can seem difficult to find current and accurate information to use as we make decisions in our communities.

This is the focus of “Beyond Fake News: How We Find Accurate Information about the World,” a free conversation with Kelly McElroy on Thursday, October, 18th, 2018 at 6 pm at the Lebanon Public Library, 55 Academy St, Lebanon, OR. This program is hosted by Lebanon Public Library and sponsored by Oregon Humanities.

Kelly McElroy is an outreach librarian at Oregon State University. She is passionate about curiosity in her work to connect people to information. She coedited the Critical Library Pedagogy Handbooks and is interested in engaging communities in thoughtful inquiry about the information they need for school, work, and play.

Through the Conversation Project, Oregon Humanities offers free programs that engage community members in thoughtful, challenging conversations about ideas critical to our daily lives and our state's future. The Lebanon Public Library's afternoon Stem program for children. Meetings will consist of a monthly rotation of Circuit boards, Littlebits and Ozobots. The 2nd Wednesday of each month (Sept-May) will be for children ages 6-11. The 4th Wednesday of each month (Sept-May) will be for children ages 12-18. These programs are free and one does not need a library card to attend.

Space and materials are limited and registration is required to attend. Please call the Library at 541-258-4926 to register. The Library received a generous grant from the Trust Management Service, LCC which provided the funding to purchase the stem kits for these programs.
