Yarn Painting Crafternoon for Kids

Wednesday, April 11th from 3:30-5:00 pm for ages 9-15. Participants will be creating Yarn Paintings inspired by the Huichol people who are native to Mexico. The Huichol people are famous for their yarn painting-small tablets covered with a mixture of beeswax and pine resin into which threads of yarn are pressed. These paintings are brilliantly colored designs and feature spiritual ideas about themselves, typically include likenesses of animals, birds, plants and people. We will be using chip board, yarn, and white glue. This event is free and all materials will be provided. Space is limited and one must be preregistered to attend. Please sign-up at our main circulation desk or call 541-258-4926.
